Students will be using the Internet and other related reading/research activities. Deltona High School's computer usage policy will be strictly enforced. Grading:
Students will be evaluated on formative assessments (40%) - class work, independent reading, homework, and summative assessments (60%) – quizzes, tests, oral presentation, and projects. Students will receive letter grades of “A,” “B,” “C,” or “I” for incomplete or poor quality class work & projects, quizzes & tests (below 70%). An “I” will be reflected on the report card as a “D” or “F.” Some activities will be videotaped or photographed as an instructional tool. Quiz, test, and project grades will NOT be recorded until they are returned with a parent signature. |
Homework:
Homework will be assigned daily (except for Fridays). Completed homework is due the following day unless otherwise indicated and will be graded on a point system according to the number of correct responses. I do not assign "busy work." Each assignment is intended to provide practice on a newly taught skill. Therefore, late homework is not penalized. Homework must be turned in by Friday of the week in which it was assigned or it will not be accepted for credit. 09/26/2016 Effective March 20, 2017: LATE homework will Not be accepted! Homework must be turned in at the BEGINNING of your class period. Makeup Policy:
Fore each day absent, a student has the equal number of days plus one to make-up any missed assignments. Students who are absent from school on a published assignment due date must turn the assignment in when they return to school and may be subject to a grade penalty. Tests and other make-up work may be completed during lunchtime and/or afterschool by appointment only. Missed summatives and/or reassessments must be completed prior to the next assessment. On Wednesdays and Thursdays during lunch, I will be available to assist with make-up/catch-up work. Additional assistance is available by appointment only. There will be NO re-dos for projects! Test makeups will be scheduled at the instructor’s convenience. 09/26/2016 |
